Piano Club
Parkland High School Piano Class
PHS Piano program embodies the same morals and goals as the PHS Choir program. The PHS piano course provides a positive, enjoyable solo and group experience in the initial approach to playing piano. The emphasis is in establishing good music reading ability and rhythmic orientation, as well as the fundamentals of music theory. This class also provides some computer technology using the electronic piano lab. Advance piano students will continue to reinforce good habits of sight reading and learning more challenging pieces. Also, the advance pianists take part in competitions such as UIL Solo & Ensemble. The P.H.S. Piano students also get opportunities to gain community service hours playing for different events. Unlike choir, piano is an independently studied and performed art. There are two mandatory performances throughout the school year, one in the winter and one is in spring.
